Our cars

We review our file for the roland because today we have our turn...

We had a little problems programing because our pieces are a little to big, but we finally did it and now we are just waiting for the machine to finish.

Fer was fixing the base, making sure it was high enough.

machine was checking surface before starting our file.

Z corp printer

Z print

We learn to program and use the Z coorporation printer

First step is to open an stl file.
Make sure to check the units whenever your are exporting. The should be the same. as your stl file.
If the part is too big the program will tell you to scale your part, and if you are not able to do it maybe you will be in the necessity of cutting your part in 2.
Make sure your part when you justify it its on the bottom and in the left.

Go file 3d print setup, for selecting the printer. Choose serial port.
Check the powder level
How much powder is in the machine, if it is enough or not …
The section is in service: check powder levels.

You can print 2 parts in the same file.
Black areas on the files means that there are holes on your part and the machine is not going to print it.

File print time estimated.. and the its going to tell you the aprox time is going to take the machine to print your file.

These is the control panel of the printer, here you can move, chance powder and depth to your peice.

these are some of the tools you need when you are working with the zprinter. For removing or aplying the powder, etc.

this is how the zprinter looks from the top, that white panel is where the powder remains, and where your file is going to be printed.

we make the programation of the file for the cnc roland and make our appointment for the same machine. everything elses was done. we justa need to wait our turn

Renders

1.-
2.-

3.-

For this session we had to make some renders of 3 different proposals for our car.

this is what i get.

validaciones

This images show the validations made on viscam view, the yellow lines show that the edges are not close.

Validaciones de modelos

Estas son las validaciones de los modelos que hice para nuestro carro..

las zonas rojas indican que las normales tienen el mismo sentido

Viscam View

VisCAM is the ideal software solution for the complete preparation of your STL files for Rapid Prototyping. Moreover VisCAM offers you optimized solutions for all steps of the RP build preparation.

How to use it?

You have to check on the chart of info if it does have unmatched edges... this is important because if you have unmatched edges you cant print. your tolerance of holes and edges is around 20. (viscamview helps you to see if your modeling object its close)

note: for the cnc is not that important because it only work with surfaces.

The program show you where are the inperfections that you must change.s

Set up the machine and ur model make sure that "roland 650" its conected.
make sure that the fale is saved in stl open your file
now you can visualize yur modeling in 3 views.
-In this case your working with mdf .. so choose the materail you are going to work with .. in case of mdf is chemical wood (soft)
-Configure your model. and opne window with info. verify your scale. ( units)
-You have to select the origin of the part. always in the middle.
-Now select how would the machine will work. this machine work with 4 axis.... (it kind of turn the object backward)

-Choose your tolerances. In the depth that will be trimmed exceeds the lenght of the tools, it is necessary to asaing a slope to avoid damages in the tool or in the machine.

-Prepare your surface. 1.- plane down (creacion de proceso nuevo) choose the drill your are going to use. (6mm)
It is possible to plane down the whole model or only a part of it
( choose interior de "forma de modelado")
Control the depth, where your model starts and finish. on the next section you can move the drill into a x axis, y axis, or both ( for the car model u need to work both)

I think it is important yo know this beacuse its the base for a modeling 3Dprinting, the step that allows us to modify our modeling and verify that is correct before we print it.

How to save a rhino document as stl. and for what

In rhino selected ur model and click export selection ...
select .stl and then save the file
it tells you the parameters of the object that you select.
Automatically it trianguilate the model ... it converts each plane into triangles.
choose binari beacuse its smaller (1kb)

Another way to do i t.. ( if your model its to complicated its better to convert to malles than export it as a stl. ( select melle) you can choose how many of them you want. you can preview to see if thats what you want.
the recomendation its starting with middle melles, so its not that heavy your file..
